Wildcats Rally To Win Opener

STAFF REPORT

Woodland boys basketball coach Jacob Selman won his head-coaching debut behind a second-half comeback in Monday’s season opener.
Behind 17 points from freshman K.J. Rogers, the Wildcats rallied for a 57-53 win over Gordon Central during the first day of a Thanksgiving classic in Calhoun.
The Wildcats knocked down a 3-pointer late in the first half to pull within five points of the Warriors at halftime. The shot seemed to spur Woodland into a quick start to the second half, culminating in the four-point win.
Jaden Johnson added 16 points for the Wildcats, while Jordon Barker chipped in with 14, including hitting 4 of 9 from deep.
The Wildcats will face LaFayette at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gordon Central.
