WOODLAND BOYS TENNIS WINS OPENER

STAFF REPORTThe Woodland High boys tennis team is looking to continue the upward trend of the program after winning its first state tournament match last season.The Wildcats are off to a good start in keeping the positive momentum going after Wednesday’s season-opening win at Hiram.Woodland took all three singles lines and Line 1 doubles to beat the host Hornets, 4-1.Bryce VanOrder won on Line 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0; Connor Gunnell won on Line 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0; Line 3 singles was forfeited by Hiram; and Keegan Gallagher and Adam Pirkle won on Line 1 doubles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.The Woodland girls will open the season Thursday at home against Villa Rica, which also will serve as the home opener for the boys.
